October marks two years since the Tubbs Fire swept down from the hills and burned homes in and around Santa Rosa. Many of our neighbors are now moving in to rebuilt houses -- and making choices about landscaping. Master Gardener Dennis Przybycien of Sonoma will speak to WGC at our Oct. 14 meeting on "FireWise Landscape: What Can You Do Now?" Calling All Members: Help Build Succulent Pumpkins!

Club Members and Community Gardeners: We Need YOU to sign up for a pumpkin decorating session to help us create the succulent-topped pumpkins we sell as a successful fundraiser every year. This year's sale will take place at Windsor's Harvest Farmers' Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday Oct. 27. (We need pumpkin sale helpers too!) Community Gardeners: you CAN get volunteer work hour credit for decorating pumpkins OR helping at the Oct. 27 plant sale! No experience is necessary! Our pumpkin veterans will show you how to use hot glue, succulents and seasonal decor items to create a mini- or medium-sized pumpkin. Build a Succulent Pumpkin Workshop Oct. 13

Windsor Garden Club is hosting a free succulent pumpkin-making workshop open to the public on Sunday Oct. 13 from 1-4 p.m. Participants will watch a demonstration on how to create a succulent pumpkin, and then create one with all materials provided, and help from experienced pumpkin makers. There is no charge for the workshop, however if attendees wish to keep the pumpkin they create, they can buy it. Prices are $8 for a mini, $15 for a small, $30 for a medium, and $50 for a large pumpkin. The location for the workshop is Past President Cindy Fenton's house in Windsor.
