All of our events are free and open to anyone who wants to learn more about gardening, the environment in Sonoma County, nature, flowers, vegetables and plants.

September


Sept. 5Monday. Labor Day Holiday


Sept. 10 – Saturday. 2nd Saturday Spruce-up, 10 AM - 1 PM, Town Green Community Garden. Come visit Windsor's community garden, meet the gardeners, and help spruce up the common areas of the garden if you'd like. Corner, Windsor Road and Joe Rodota Drive next to the Windsor Town Hall.

Sept. 13 – Tuesday. Windsor Garden Buzz, 6:30 PM, Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr., Windsor. The Windsor Garden Club's monthly meeting, featuring Sonoma County experts speaking on garden, nature, and environment topics. September Garden Buzz Topic: Save the Trees! What do climate change and our current megadrought mean for Windsor's "urban forest" of trees? And how can we help them?

 

Sept. 15 - Thursday. Kickoff for the Great Succulent Pumpkin Sale! Windsor Garden Club's online pumpkin shop pops up today. Order your large, medium, small or mini succulent pumpkins before Oct. 18, then pick them up at the Town Green Community Garden on Saturday, Oct, 22. The sale is the big annual fundraiser for WGC and pays for garden beautification and education projects around town, as well as scholarships for Windsor students.

Oct. 11 – Tuesday. Windsor Garden Buzz, 6:30 PM, Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr., Windsor. The Windsor Garden Club's monthly meeting, featuring Sonoma County experts speaking on garden, nature, and environment topics.

 

October Garden Buzz Topic: Plant it Now! October is prime planting time for trees and perennials (permanent plants that will bloom season after season). But we're in a 20-year megadrought. Come learn about California natives and low-water-use plants from other areas that are beautiful (really!) and good for pollinators and the environment. And get the scoop on cardboard sheet mulching, the easy way to reduce or remove your lawn.


Oct. 22 – Saturday. Succulent Pumpkin Customer Pickup, Town Green Community Garden, Noon - 2 PM


Oct. 29 – Saturday. Town Green Community Garden Autumn Open House, 10AM - 2 PM. Curious about the Community Garden? Want to learn some tips for success in your own raised bed, organic garden? Just like wandering gardens? Come on by. Corner, Windsor Road and Joe Rodota Drive next to the Windsor Town Hall.


Oct. 29 – Saturday. Windsor Dia de los Muertos celebration, 4 -9 PM, Windsor Town Green

January


Jan. 7 - Saturday. Waitlist Opens, Town Green Community Garden. Do you want to rent a bed in the Windsor Town Green Community Garden? The 2023 Bed Rental season opens today. If you were not a 2022 renter and want a bed in 2023, email officers@windsorgardenclub.org with your name and contact info to get on our waiting list. First on the list: the three people who joined the waiting list in late 2022.


Jan. 10 – Tuesday. NO Garden Buzz. We go dormant in December and January.

But since it's Valentine's Day, we're guessing it will be something to do with roses.

March 14 – Tuesday. Windsor Garden Buzz, 6:30 PM, Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr., Windsor. The Windsor Garden Club's monthly meeting, featuring Sonoma County experts speaking on garden, nature, and environment topics. March Garden Buzz Topic: Herb Gardens. In Northern California, March is the month for planting culinary herbs like chives, cilantro, dill, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, and thyme in a sunny part of the garden. What's the secret to a great herb garden? Come find out.

April 11 – Tuesday. Windsor Garden Buzz, 6:30 PM, Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr., Windsor. The Windsor Garden Club's monthly meeting, featuring Sonoma County experts speaking on garden, nature, and environment topics. April Garden Buzz Topic: Sewing Seeds! The beginning of April is time for planting cool-season veggies like carrots, and spinach. Late April is the time to sow seeds of warm-season crops like beans, corn, and squash, plus seedlings of eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes.


April 15 – Saturday. Town Green Community Garden Spring & Earth Day Open Garden, 10AM - 2 PM. We'll have special activities for children, free sunflower seeds for planting, and gardeners on hand to answer questions about organic gardens, pollinator gardens, growing veggies, growing flowers, drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting and more. April 15, Saturday. Official End of Frost Season in Sonoma County!
