Birds n' Bees n' Plant Sale April 23

Don’t have the knack of planting seedlings? Mark your calendar for April 23 and come on over to the annual Windsor Garden Club Spring Plant Sale between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the Town Green. It’s part of Windsor’s annual Earth Day and Wellness Festival. You’ll find flower and vegetable starts, beautiful container gardens, garden décor, and even giant pumpkin seeds. (They’re from a whopper pumpkin entered in a 2016 Giant Pumpkin contest). This year’s Spring Plant Sale theme is “Birds n’ Bees,” and you’ll find plenty of flower starts good for creating bee- and butterfly-friendly habitats in your front and back yards. The plant sale is one of two annual fundraisers for the non-profit club. Proceeds fund garden education and beautification projects around Windsor (including the Town Green Community Garden), and SRJ and SSU scholarships for local students pursuing environmental, agriculture or biology studies. The club is also offering a free family photo or “selfie” stage for festival-goers that morning too. Bring your cameras or smartphones to the sale area at McClelland Drive and Market Streets, by the Snoopy Sculpture. We’ll have a pretty bench surrounded with spring flowers and a gauzy backdrop, and volunteers to help you snap photos. And it’s FREE. Happy planting – and we hope to see you on the green April 23.
